Next week is the period of excess known as Miami Art Week. This is when we all get very amped-up and dressed-up, only to find ourselves stuck in deeply unglamorous traffic in the back of a rideshare, stalled on the MacArthur Causeway as we try to decamp from one art fair to another.
That said, if you put on your “patience hat” along with some comfortable but cute shoes, and promise yourself to take the drama and delays in stride, you’ll likely have a fabulous time seeing the global art world come out to play.
While you’re Basel-ing, I’d love for you to stop by one or both of the fairs where I’ll be exhibiting! Details below.
Red Dot Miami
Several of my pieces will be presented by Liz Wood Art Selection (in Booth 605) at Red Dot Miami. Be sure to use this link to get complimentary access to the fair.
Feria Clandestina
Works from my Ascend / Scale series will be on view at Feria Clandestina—stop by the reception area to see these pieces. Admission is free—see more details and RSVP here.
Eye candy
Images below show the development of some experimental works, which are currently on view at Gasper Arts Center’s Resident Artist show.
These pieces are studies towards extending the Glyph-State series, which explores abstracted symbols and letterforms that are at once familiar and unknown. These deconstructed glyphs might originate in the future or the past, and their meaning is, as of yet, unclear. Except in the sense that they establish a link between this moment in time, and others, in which one may have lived other lives, spoken different languages, and understood concepts that are currently obscured.
These experiments have an energy all their own…there was a lot of Rage Against the Machine and Nine Inch Nails as this churned through my studio.
